Well it has been a very disappointing season, to say the least, for the Los Angeles Lakers. The firing of Mike Brown, the benching of Paul Gasol, and the frustration of their star player Kobe Bryant has the Lakers still trying to figure out who they really are.
My personal opinion is that the new coach made a very bad decision replacing Paul Gasol with Dwight Howard. Breaking up the chemistry between two of your best players because you want to fit Howard into the starting lineup was dumb. Now I'm not saying that Howard is not a good player, but he just does not fit the style of play that most Western Conference team play. He is a powerful player and most of the West centers are outside players. This is the reason he stays in foul trouble each and every game. The East is physical and we saw that Howard fit that style perfect.
Now with Gasol back into the starting lineup, the Lakers looked like the old Lakers as they beat the Timberwolves convincingly. Now for those who say that they should have, I would remind you that the Lakers have struggled against terrible teams.
It will be interesting to see how the coach plays this out. Since Howard is out with a shoulder injury for a couple games, if the Lakers when the next couple games with Gasol, does he still put Gasol back on the bench? If he does then he is a stubborn coach that is trying to make things fit where they don't.
