Broncos Tim Tebow Gets First NFL Win Against Miami 18-15

Tim Tebow gets his first NFL start against the Miami Dolphin. The first 3 3/4 quarters were not good for Tebow and the Broncos.Through that period the Broncos were scoreless.

The last 2 minutes of the game, the Broncos go into their 2 minute drill, as Tebow leads his team down by 15 points. The Broncos score a touchdown with under 2 minutes which puts them down by 8 points. The Broncos recovers an on-side kick . Tebow drives his team to another score and gets the 2 point conversion which leads to overtime.

Tebow drives his team and gets them into a field goal winning situation. The Broncos converts the field goal which gives them and Tim Tebow a great comeback win 18-15.

Tim Tebow may not have had a great first start as a passer, but like most winners, he knows how to get the job done. The Broncos host the Detroit Lions next week. This will be a great test for Tebow as the high power offense of the Lions come to town.

Carson Palmer Signs With The Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders has added another quarterback to their royster, signing Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Palmer, who announced at the start of the season that he will retire before playing with the Bengals, got his wish. The Raiders are giving up a 1st round and 2nd round draft picks for the veteran quarterback, after losing their starting quarterback Jason Campbell.

The Raiders love to throw the ball down field to compliment their great running game. The question is, does Carson Palmer still has the arm to throw deep downfield the way the Raiders love to do.

Did the Raiders give up too much for a 31 year quarterback, who does not have a winning track record? What happens when Jason Campbell returns? It's not like he blew out his knee or something, he should be very healthy at the start of next season. The Raiders has a favorable schedule for the rest of the season and should win the majority of them. This is going to get very interesting in the next couple of weeks.

Will Terrelle Pryor Start For The Oakland Raiders

Yesterday, the Oakland Raiders won over the Cleveland Browns, but lost their quarterback, Jason Campbell, in the process. Campbell broke his collarbone and ended his season for the team. The Raiders were averaging over 30 points/game, with  Darren McFadden running the football, complimenting Jason Campbell. Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback, Kyle Boller, took over the role as quarterback. The question is, what will the Raiders do about the vacant position.

Terrelle Pryor has been lifted from his suspension for the first 5 games of the season, handed down by the Commissioner.Terrelle was a proven winner for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and now faces the possibility of playing his first professional game.

With the Raiders having a great first half of this season only losing 1 game, it will be interesting to see how they play out the rest of this season. Will they go for a more experience quarterback in Boller, who even with the experience, has not been a proven winner, or will they give Terrelle Pryor the opportunity to start at quarterback.

Don't expect Terrele to start in the next 2 weeks, but if Boller throws a couple of interceptions, it wouldn't surprise me if Pryor is inserted in the starting lineup.I think he will compliment Darren McFadden more than Kyle Boller. The next couple of weeks should be intersesting for the Oakland Raiders and their coaching staff.

Baltimore Ravens Defeats The Pittsburgh Steelers 35-7

The Pittsburgh Steelers was given their worst loss under the helm of Mike Tomlison. The Baltimore Ravens defeated them 35-7. Pittsburgh had a total of 7 turnovers, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throwing for 3 interceptions. Roethlisberger just seemed out of sink the entire day.

Baltimore was in control of this game from the start, with Ray Rice running the football for 36 yards on the very first play.He finished the game with107 yards and two touchdowns. In over 50 games, Pittsburgh had not allowed a 100 yard rusher. The last person to do it was Ray Rice.

Joe Flacco went 17-29 and added 3 Touchdowns of his own without throwing an interception. He looked very comfortable in the pocket today throwing the ball with confidence.

Baltimore snapped a Pittsburgh 8 game winning streak on season openers by giving them a dose of smash mouth football. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers will bounce back next week.

Does Joe Paterno Needs To Be Replaced At Penn State

The 23rd rank Penn State Nittany Lions loses to the Alabama Crimson Tide 27-11 , but that is not the issue. The question football fans have is, does Joe Paterno has what it takes to continue to coach? Penn State trailed the entire game, and just had no sense of urgency throughout this game.

The clock management during the first half was just horrible using all of their timeouts within the first few minutes of the game. The second half was even worse. Down by three scores in the fourth quarter, Penn State played as though they were ahead throughout this game. They took the play clock down to the last second on each play, and just looked lost on offense.

I've watched Penn State for years and have never seen them give up in a game. In this game versus Alabama they gave up. Now it was not the players that gave up, it was the coaches. It was as though they were trying to avoid a blow-out instead of playing the football game like they wanted to win.

Penn State does not have any chance this season if the coaching staff continue to coach this team the way they coached this game. I love Coach Paterno, but I think maybe it's time to get some fresh ideas at Penn State.

New Orleans Saints vs Green Bay Packers In The Season Opener

September 8, 2011, is a date that is marked on every football fan's calendar. It is the first NFL regular season game.
The game will be played by the previous 2 Superbowl Champs, New Orleans Saints vs Green Bay Packers. This game should be a back and forth game as we have 2 of the most explosive offenses in football. If you are one who like to put wagers on football, Las Vegas has Green Bay winning by 4 points.

What defense will show up will be the key to victory.Aaron Rogers is coming off a spectacular playoff and SuperBowl Championship. Will he have a Superbowl hangover remains to be seen.

My predition is Green Bay will win this game, but won't cover the 4 points...30-27

Baylor Defeats TCU 50-48

With all the College Football offseason scandals, it was great to start off the season with a wild and crazy upset.

Robert Griffin III, looked very impressive for Baylor in the season opener against last year, Rose Bowl Champions,TCU Hornfrogs. Griffin threw for 5 touchdowns and was 21-27 359yds.

Baylor was unstoppable in the first 3 quarters of the game, leading the Hornfrogs 47-23, but took a conservative approach in the 4th quarter, which led to a great comeback by the Hornfrogs.
TCU took a 48-47 lead after a fumble from Griffin with 4:27 remaining in the game.Griffin marched the team back down field to set up a Aaron Jones 37 yard field goal attempt. Jones makes the field goal with just 1:04 remaining in the game.

TCU moved the ball well in the last minute needing only about 10 yards to get into field-goal  range, but an interception by Hicks with 10 seconds, sealed the game for Baylor.

Kendall Wright caught 12 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for a 40 yard touchdown. What a great way to start the season!

These same two teams opened last season with the Badgers beating the Rebels 41-21.This game should be no different. Look for the powerhouse of Wisconsin to run the ball at will against the Rebels.

Michael Vick Signs Six-Year $100 Million Dollar Contract

Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles has came to an agreement Monday, signing the pro-bowl quarterback to a six-year contrat extension.According to a source for AP,Vick has signed a six-year $100 Million contract, with $40M gauranteed, which once again makes him one the highest paid NFL players.

Vick is coming off of one of his best seasons as a quarterback. We as fans watched on as he matured during last season.Vick was reading defenses and letting plays develop, which allowed for speedster receivers like DeShawn Jackson, to get down field for big plays. Before coming to the Eagles, Vick was known as a runner first and a passer second.

The Eagles were 8-3 with Vick as a starter. Vick took over after starting quarterback,Kevin Colbs got injured. Colbs now is quarterbacking for the Arizona Cardinals. If the offensive line can protect Vick, I look to see a another great season for him. If things starts to break down in the line, look for the old Vick to return,or look for Vick getting injured.Should be a great another great season for the Eagles if Vick stays healthy.

Indianapolis Colts Signs Quarterback Kerry Collins

The Indianapolis Colts has decided to bring in veteran quarterback Kerry Collins to learn their offense in case Peyton Manning is not able to play the first couple games of the regular season. Whether or not he gets a chance to start for Indy remains to be seen. Knowing Peyton Manning, as all of us do,can bank on the fact that he will be out there for the first regular season. But what does it mean for the Colts if Manning can't start? Will they try to run a simple offense if Manning is not there? We all know that Manning and the Colts have always been a quick strike team. The no huddle offense with Manning running the show always had the opponents defense on their heels.

With Kerry Collins it will be a different story.Sitting back in the pocket with protection, I think Collins can still throw the ball with accuracy.I don't know if it will play to his strength to run the no huddle and call all of his own plays from the line of scrimmage. With Manning, it was like having a coach on the field. His ability to read defensive coverages and call plays from the coverage, has made him a guru when it comes to the game.It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff plays Collins in the last preseason game against the Bengals. Will they try to control the clock by running the ball or will they still try and be a quick strike team?Should be interesting to watch.

LSU Quarterback Jordan Jefferson Arrested

The LSU Tigers starting quarterback, Jordan Jefferson, has been arrested for second degree battery. Jefferson is the leader of this football team and to lose his cool like this is unexceptable.Witness says that Jefferson stomped the head of a man during a fight.Coach Les Miles has suspended Jefferson indefinitely which is going to hurt the LSU Football program.Back up quarterback Jarrett Lee will take over the starting position.

The Tigers are to open their season September 3,2011, against the Oregon Duck.Garrett Lee main job against the Ducks will be ball control. Just continue to move the chain, and keep the explosive offense of Oregon off the field. If he can't do that, this game is going to be ugly before halftime. It will be interesting to see how Les Miles and the Tigers handle this terrible situation.I will be giving weekly updates and picks on college and pro games. Terrelle Pryor To Practice With Oakland Raiders

Terrelle Pryor has signed a four year deal with the Oakland Raiders late Thursday night. He will officially have his first NFL practice on today. Pryor was taken in the supplemental draft by the Raiders because they desperately need a quarterback. Is Pryor the right fit for the Raiders? If McFadden has a great year rushing the football, that should take a lot of pressure off Pryor, when he joins the team after serving his suspension for the first 5 games.

For right now Jason Campbell is the Raiders starting QB, but look for a change if he is not able to move the downfield. The coaching staff has let it be known that Pryor will be playing quarterback and not another position.Oakland play the New Orleans Saints Sunday, but Pryor will unlikely play in that game. Expect Pryor to take his first snap as a Raider in the last preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. After that game Pryor can no longer practice with the team until his 5 game suspension is up.

Oakland will open the season 9/12 at Denver, which will be a Monday Night game on ESPN.The following 2 games will be at Buffalo on 9/18, and at home versus the Jets on 9/25.It will be interesting to see how Jason Campbell move the ball in the first 2 games of the season.Should be an exciting season.

Will Peyton Manning Start The Season For The Colts

Peyton Manning is like a "one man gang" on the football field. He is the coach and the engine that drives the Indianapolis Colts. The question remains, will Peyton Manning be ready for the start of the season. Last season Manning started the season not 100% and the Colts got off to a rocky start. This year with the injury to the shoulder area it will take a lot longer to get in football form, especially with him throwing the ball as often as he does. Manning has already stated that he will not try to play the start the first game just to keep his streak at starting alive. What  will the Colts do if Peyton can play the first few games of the regular season? The backup quarterbacks have not looked impressive at all during this preseason.Bringing in a veteran quarterback will be your only option if Peyton can't play. The rumors that talks with Brett Favre are underway have not been confirm by anyone.I don't think Brett Favre will return to football. At least I hope not, as much as I like Brett.

So, let's say Peyton Manning does come back and can start the season. His injury should be an eye opener for the coach and owner that they are going to have to think of life without Peyton. It's time for them to get a quality quarterback ready to play in the next couple years. Not only that, but they need a running back as well. Without Manning, I don't see the Colts throwing the ball as much, so they need an established runner. It will be interesting to see how the Colts respond to this. Can't wait to see what happens.

Giants Defeats Bears 41-13 in Preseason Game

After a slow start by both team, the NYG handed the Chicago Bears a 41-13 loss. The first quarter started off very sluggest by both teams. The Giants after going 0-5 in 3rd down conversions started this game 0-2 in 3rd down conversions. At the start of the 2nd quarter Giants started dominating the game. Eli Manning played almost all of the 1st half and finished 8-16 for 78 yds. He was very impressive at reading the defense and calling audibles at the line of scrimmage.Special Teams for the Giants did a great job last night. A couple of great returns on kickoffs and a blocked punt which led to a touchdown.

The Bears, however, looked sluggish through the entire game. Cutler managed to throw 3 passes for over 30 yards a play, but that was about the sum of things.Marion Barber, who was aquired from the Dallas Cowboys played well.He was brought to this team to keep drives alive on 3rd down and short yardage. He fail to get into the enzone on a 3rd and 4th down play from the 2 yard line. They will have to do a better job and convert those plays into touchdowns. The Bears are still trying to develop a down the field, quick strike offense. Because of this, Jay Cutler lead the NFL in getting sack last season. He was sack once for every nine attempts. The offensive coordinator came under fire because of the number of hits Cutler was taking. This preseason the offensive line has done a better job of protecting him. If the bears want to continue to throw for big plays, Forte will have to have a great season in order for them to do this.In my opinion, the Bears are going to struggle again this season if they don't let Forte be the center of their offense. This should be an interesting season for the Bears and Lovie Smith.

Terrelle Pryor Signs With Oakland Raiders

Terrelle Pryor got picked up as a supplement player by the Oakland Raiders. Will this be a good fit for the strong arm, athletic quarterback?Oakland has gotten into a habit making bad decisions about quarterbacks. They have went through several quarterbacks over the last several years.Trying to develop an athletic quarterback into a pocket quarterback takes years, if ever. Last year we saw Michael Vick for the first time in his career stay in the pocket and let the play develop. Before that he would just rely on his legs. Will he be able to continue that this year along with the great accuracy we saw last year? Time will tell.

Oakland has a very good running game but need a quarterback to keep the defense honest. When they drafted Russell from LSU, he was a big strong armed quarterback that could stretch the field with his legs also. The problem was he could never grasp reading the defense in the pros. It turned out to be an ugly seen in Oakland. They also tried Jason Campbell. Even though Campbell was a pocket quarterback, he didn't have the arm strength to stretch the field, therefore Oakland could not put points on the board.

Now they have signed Terrelle Pryor, who will miss the first 5 games of the season due to a college violation. So if you are Oakland, how do you handle this? Will you see if you go 0-5 and start him right away? Would you let him sit out this year and learn from the bench? If my team was not going to make the playoffs, I probably would let him play the final 3 games of the season just to get the speed of the game. He will soon find out that a 300 pound lineman can chase him down with no problem. It will also give the coaches a chance to see if he can read defenses. In college he had the green light to take off with the ball when he felt he was in trouble. In the pros you must let plays develop to be successful. This should once again be an interesting season for the Oakland Raiders.

Kyle Orton Named Denver Broncos Starting Quarterback

John Fox named Kyle Orton as the Denver Broncos Starting Quarterback for the season opener against the Oakland Raiders. This puts the rest the media blitz that has been going on about Tim Tebow being the starter. No doubt when it comes to being an accurate passer, Kyle Orton is the better choice. As we have seen in preseason games, Tim Tebow has thrown a few simple passes behind his receivers.I think Tim Tebow is a better down field thrower than he is for the simple drop off pass, or post routes. Now I am a big fan of Tim Tebow, but I feel with his size, he should have been moved to another position in the pros.We see all the time how most running college quarterbacks are given a different position in the pros.Matt Jones was a great accurate quarterback in college, but when he reached the pros they made him a successful tightend. Now am I saying Tebow needs to be a tightend? Absoulutely not! I just feel if he is going to get any quality time on the field, it will have to come from another position. As it stands right now, Tim Tebow is fighting had with former Notre Dame Star, Brady Quinn. Coach Fox has yet to name who will be backing Kyle Orton in the regular season. When the Broncos played the Bills on Saturday, it was Brady Quinn that came out with the second team. What does that mean? Maybe nothing. It will be interesting to see how these last couple weeks play out as Coach Fox decides who will be his second string quarterback.Stay with me as I bring you updates on the weekly College and Pro Football games.
